New York[3] Statue of Liberty
What do you imagine about New York? Many people will imagine the statue of liberty, won't they?
It is on the island that is in the offing of the New York land. You take the subway, get off at South Ferry station, then you'll find the Battery Park along the wharf. Liberty Island Ferry leaves this wharf and comes back here.

Statue of LibertySoon after the ferry started, I could see the front view of Statue of Liberty. The deck became crowded by the passengers who took the photos. It was the wonderful moment to take photos with the statue in the background.

The Statue of LibertyIt is widely known that this statue was presented from France to congratulate the 100th Independence Anniversary. It also is known that she has the torch on her right hand and the Declaration of Independence on her left hand. When I went closer to the statue, I found that she was going to walk free from the chain which had been binding her feet.

My guide book says we can go up to the inside of the crown. I wanted to go. But I gave up because many people were making long line.
Later I heard that the stairway to the crown is so steep and narrow. It might have been too hard for me.

The ferry stops first at Liberty Island and next at Ellis Island. I stopped by also at Ellis Island. In the Ellis Island immigration museum, I saw many interesting exhibition.
Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island told me many things about the history of the US.
