Agave americana

News papers reported that some of century plants in Japan were blooming. One of them was in my town.
It was taller than I expected, and the hight was 10 meters or more. Please compare its height to the outdoor lamp, and you might understand how it is big .
According to the owners comment, the bud appeared in May and grew to this height until July.

A Japanese botanical authority says that they have flowers only once in their lives after they have kept the energy enough to have flowers.
As the name tells, I hear that they have flowers once in a century. I've also heard that we can't predict when it would have flowers.
It's really a mysterious plant.

I really appreciate that I could see such precious blossoms.
